Ontario’s new EOI system adds 2 new streams, helps foreign graduates

Ontario expands EOI system to include Masters Graduate and PhD Graduate streams

Good news for international students! Graduates from Ontario who are holding job offers in the province will now be able to register for an opportunity to obtain Ontario’s provincial nomination via 2 more immigration programs.

Ontario’s new EOI system had recently added the Ph.D. Graduate and Masters Graduate streams. There are 3 more programs that make use of the EOI system namely: International Student, In-Demand Skills, and Foreign Worker.

These programs are now part of the EOI system. Ph.D. Graduate and Master’s Graduate candidates are now able to register for immigration to Ontario at any time. In the EOI system, the profiles of these candidates are ranked by EOI on the basis of a scoring matrix.

Candidates are granted points for factors such as work experience, education, and the destination in Ontario the candidate intends to settle in. Through the practice of ranking, Ontario immigration authorities can identify those with the experience and skills to become successful in the labor market of Ontario.

However, merely registering for the EOI system is not an assurance that candidates will receive ITAs for a provincial nomination. Profiles in the EOI pool have a validity of 12 months. The OINP may get in touch with registrants at any time, inviting them to file an application for a nomination.

What future Ontario immigrants must learn

Are you planning to eventually file an application for immigration via one of Ontario’s base PNPs? If yes, then now is the time you can register an EOI profile whenever you want. Earlier, you could only register when the OINP’s online portal was open. Read More
