1 Million Newcomers Welcomed by Canada - Report

IRCC Canada issued a report lately that was the first of its kind. The report came under the title “Settlement Outcomes Highlights Report”. It’s a high-level analysis and summary of the Canadian immigrant experience.

What the report is all about?

The report of IRCC Canada examines the successes and challenges of new immigrants in Canada in the period from 2015 to 2019.  Emphasis is given on immigrants’ use of settlement services.

The findings of the IRCC Canada report

  • A majority of new immigrants who received settlement services said that they found the services meet their needs and prove highly useful.
  • New immigrants stated that the services increased their knowledge of life in Canada and improved their skills in the English and French languages.
  • New immigrants stated that Canada’s settlement services prepared them for the Canadian labor market. They said it even helped them in connecting with organizations in their communities.
  • A need for IRCC Canada to improve in the following areas was also highlighted in the report:
    • Increase immigrants’ awareness of settlement services
    • Filling the information gaps and check on potential barriers
    • Researching the outcomes of immigrant settlement.
